Training Begins With You
"You're actually training us...not the dogs!" That's one of the of the observations we most often get from clients, often with surprise in their voice. Nothing could be more accurate.
The learning process for you and your dog initially takes place in the class or private session setting, but the success of what you and your dog achieve depends on you practicing those skills together as a team at home. We want you to learn how to train well so that your dog's behavior can improve at a good pace.
Individual Attention
From Puppy Preschool (early socialization) and Family Dog I (on May 20) to our Private Consults and Private Classes, our training services emphasize individal attention and focus on individual training goals. We keep our student to teacher ratio low to ensure that you get the best training assistance available in the Portland area. Contact us and find out what a difference personalized training can make!
Positive Focus
All of our training services incorporate the latest techniques and scientific principles which have developed in behavioral sciences over the last twenty years. We combine this knowlege with personal training experience and participation in educational opportunities from the best professional trainers in the field.
Our training emphasis is on Positive Reinforcement (rewarding good behavior) with a lesser emphasis on Negative Punishment (removing privilages) when needed. These techniques have been proven to be highly effective and, unlike punishment focused training, are less likely to produce unwanted phobias and side-effects from the training process.
After Training
After your private consult or between your classes, we are here to answer you questions. If you have any concerns, reach a difficult point in training, hit a road-block or simply have a question about how to approach a problem you are experiencing, we are here to help you. Once you are our client, we are available to you on a on-going basis (over phone or e-mail) to help you find an answer.
